The SASSpear (S97), formerly known as the SASMaria van Riebeeck, was aDaphné-class submarine of the South African Navy (SAN). It was the SAN's first submarine. It was decommissioned in 2003 and subsequently scrapped.
launched: 18 march 1976
decommissioned: 2003
the submarine was cut up and scrapped after 29 years of service for the SAN. the steel was was part of the hull.
